The business meeting of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin with representatives of Internet community was held on December 28, 1999, on the New Year's eve, in the House of Government. Besides Vladimir Putin, vice-premier and few federal ministers took part in the meeting that was held in a friendly atmosphere and lasted more than an hour.

During the business meeting problems of the Russian Internet development, ways of cooperation between the Government of the Russian Federation and Internet community, information extension based on Internet technologies were discussed. The fact that Vladimir Putin found time to meet in his extremely tense schedule, shows that the Government of the Russian Federation realizes importance of Internet development and is going to assist Internet development in Russia. Representatives of Internet community invited Vladimir Putin to participate in a regular Russian Internet Forum (RIF). Vladimir Putin expressed his willingness to visit RIF-2000 in March, 2000.
