Russian anti-virus vendor is ready for action on the eve of the millennium

Kaspersky Lab, the leader in anti-virus protection software, announced its "Readiness No.1" program. The program includes strengthened control of virus threats and extended support for users since December 24, 1999, till January 7, 2000. The action is reported to be carried out both in Russia and throughout the world.

Eugene Kaspersky, the head of anti-virus research department of the company, said that he did not anticipate the flood of thousands of new lethal computer viruses at that period. Yet the company decided to keep its technical divisions in fighting order to provide effective support for users in any non-standard situations.

The interval since December 24 (Catholic Christmas) through January 1 (New Year) till January 8 (Orthodox Christmas) is the most dangerous from viewpoint of potential appearance of new viruses and destructive activity of the existing ones. During this time, top experts of Kaspersky Lab will be on round-the-clock duty to monitor the appearance of new viruses, provide consultations to users and immediately release emergency patches and add-ons if necessary. Technical support service of Kaspersky Lab will be enforced by new highly qualified professionals, working in intensified mode.

At night, December 31, 1999, to January 1, 2000, technical support will be available for all users, no matter which anti-virus product they apply. Kaspersky Lab experts will assist in solving any problems arising from computer system malfunctioning because of viruses.

The "Readiness No.1" program engages not only the company itself but also its business partners in Australia, Austria, Benilux countries, Canada, Denmark, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, and USA.
