Russian Internet provider Demos-Internet announced beginning of operation of new 45 Mbps channel to Cable & Wireless network. The channel will be used exclusively for data traffic. As of now, this is the highest speed of the direct uplinks used by Russian Internet providers.

The channel links the Russian segment of Internet to high-speed Cable & Wireless international backbone. The latter connects users in 70 countries worldwide. Putting this channel into operation means that the total capacity of Demos-Internet international links increased by 450% and achieved 55 Mbps.

Following the kick-off of the new channel, Demos Internet announced its plans to drastically expand its modem pools and offer a number of new tariff schemes for leased-line services.
