Russian software vendor ABBYY, the specialist in optical character recognition (OCR) systems, announced strategic partnership with Acer Peripherals. Within the framework of the agreement, Acer scanners will be shipped with special version of ABBYY FineReader 4.0 system throughout the world. ABBYY FineReader special version is built upon ABBYY FineReader Engine recognition technology. By November 1999, the products of ABBYY FineReader Standard/Professional family won 17 awards from the world leading publications in computer industry. FineReader system has standard Windows interface in 8 languages and recognizes documents in 53 languages. The built-in Scan&Read Wizard leads the user through the entire scanning and recognition process. Recognized texts may be exported to MS Word, MS Excel, WordPerfect, and Word Pro processors, or saved in RTF, TXT, and PDF formats. Specialized version of ABBYY FineReader is already shipped in Russia with Mustek, Epson, Xerox, Primax, Microtek, UMAX, and Genius scanners. Source: InfoArt News Agency
