The Kremlin Cup tennis tournament recently held in Moscow was a debut of a new automatic security information system. The solution was developed by Russian company Pilot and utilizes modern codebar technologies. Codebar-based automatic systems for personal identification are now widely used at major sports competitions and other large-scale events. A solution of this sort, for example, has served Wimbledon tennis tournament since 1994. The system controls the access to restricted areas and utilizes personal plastic cards with name and photo of the owner and codebar identifier. Similar solution was developed and deployed by Pilot corporation for Kremlin Cup tournaments. The system combines visual and electronic control. If someone tries to enter the restricted area without having corresponding access rights, the codebar scanning terminal will sound an alarm to security personnel. On top of that, the system logs all events, thus allowing to reconstruct the situation accurate to a minute and to report who, when and where entered and left. All participants of the event, except spectators with ordinary tickets, are divided into 31 categories with different access rules to each of the restricted areas. For each personal card, full history is maintained and all movements are logged, including all attempts to pass through control terminals (date, time, and security zone). This allows to generate any statistic reports. Access control is performed by Denso BHT6045 and BHT6047 mobile terminals submitting data to the central database. Security personnel at checkpoints is equipped with BHT6045 mobile units which store all information about access rights in their memory. Pilot company also quotes a number of other functions which are built-in to the system but not applied yet. This functionality allows to use it for control and logging a number of financial transactions. Source: InfoArt News Agency
