Reverso/PROjectMT system, designed by Russian software vendor PROMT (http://wwwpromt.ru), won the comparative testing of computer-aided translation solutions. Testing was held by PC Expert magazine (http://wwwpcexpert.tm.fr) in November, 1999, and included the world recognized leaders in this field: Power Translator by Lernout&Haspie, Reverso/PROjectMT by PROMT, Systran by Systran, and Transcend by Transparent Language. The extensive testing programs included two language couples (English-to-French and French-to-English) and a variety of texts in information technologies, philosophy, medicine, jurisprudence, religion (using some texts for the Bible). Extracts from belles-lettres, namely, love stories and "Murphy's laws", were also included in the program.

Translation systems were ranked in a number of parameters, including the quality of translation, composition of dictionaries and their quality, autolearning abilities, integration with other applications, and operation speed. As a result, Reverso/PROjectMT outperformed its competitors by as large as 30% in the total score.

Reverso/PROjectMT was also honored with Editors' Choice award for the high quality of the translation and, according to the magazine's review, "for efficiency, good education and diplomatic fidelity". Testing texts are available in full at PC Expert website.
