Establishing a Russian distributed computer center of bioinformatics have been discussed on the session of Coordination Council of Russian Academy of Science (RAS) this October. The session was attended by leading scientists in biology, medicine, chemistry, and pharmacology.

The center will provide integration of efforts and application of up-to-date technologies in research in the field of genetic and proteom information. The research range from development of theoretical methods to practical application of the results of fundamental research to medicine and biotechnology.

The most probable VAR and hardware supplier for the project is Catalyst Silicon Solutions, a Russian company which had fruitfully cooperated with Russian scientific and educational centers for years. Among its customers there are RAS Institute of Bio-Organic Chemistry, Russian Academy of Medical Sciences' Scientific and Research Institute of Biomedical Chemistry, RAS Puschino Scientific Center, and others.
