DPI Group presents iBook in Russia

DPI Group, the official representative (IMC) of Apple in Russia, announced availability of iBook mobile computers at the local market. The notebook, which is a "portable Mac" for wide range of users, was officially announced by Apple at MacWorld expo in July 1999. Along with other features, the computer provides wireless Internet access functionality.

Basic configuration includes PowerPC G3 processor running at 300 MHz, with 512KBytes of Level 2 cache; 32 Mbytes SDRAM, with possible expansion up to 160 MBytes; 3.2 Gbytes HDD; ATI RAGE Mobility video card with 2X AGP bus and 4 MBytes of video SDRAM; 12.1" TFT LCD; built-in 56Kbps modem; 10/100Base-T Ethernet adapter; 24X CD-ROM; USB port; two built-in antennas and a slot for Apple AirPort wireless networking card. Lithium-Ion battery provides 6 hours of continuous operation.

In addition to iBook, Apple is shipping AirPort, its new solution for wireless Internet access. It includes AirPort Base Station and AirPortCard adapter.

iBook shipments to Russia will begin in late October, 1999. Estimated retail prices in Moscow are US$ 1920 for iBook, US$ 120 for AirPortCard, US$ 345 for AirPort Base Station.
