The conference entitled "Year 2000 problem in Russia" will be held on October 8, 1999, the last day of Internetcom '99 show, in Moscow. It is expected to be attended by 150 to 200 professionals, including heads and project managers of IT divisions of various businesses and organizations. The goal of the conference is to provide recommendations for Russian companies on evaluation of Y2K compliance of their information systems, testing standards and techniques, risk estimation. Technologies, products and solutions of the problem will also be presented at the conference, with all of them taking national peculiarities into account. Recommendations on contingency planning will be presented as well. Reports to be done at the conference will consider legislation aspects of Y2K problem in Russia, the state program on Y2K problem and world experience in this field, testing standards and techniques, ways of solving the Y2K problem in large information systems, planning of operation in crisis situations. The conference program includes plenary sessions and round tables, work in sections, exhibition of products, technologies and solutions on Y2K problem. The conference is supported by parliamentary committee on information politics and communications, State Committee of Telecommunications, Ministry of Nuclear Power, Ministry of Defense, and Ministry of Extreme Situations of Russian Federation.
