DPI Group, the official representative of Apple Computer in Russia, expressed its concern about the information recently spread by by C-Net and some other Internet news agencies in United States and Russia. Articles published by these agencies stated that Apple Computers had decided not to export G4-based computers to countries belonging to so-called "third group". This group includes more than 50 countries, with Russia and China among them. DPI Group and Apple Europe, the European division of Apple Computer, say these rumours to be the "absolute nonsense" and declare that all this information has nothing in common with reality. Never has Apple made a decision of this sort. Neither it is thinking even about considering such possibility. Since export license is required to ship computers based on G4 processor to Russia, other ex-USSR countries and the other countries of the "third group", Apple Computer has already submitted an application for such license to corresponding governmental institutions. Currently the application is under consideration. The license for Power Mac G4 shipments to Russia is expected to be obtained by mid- or late October this year. Power Macintosh G4 is demonstrated in Russia for the first time at Internetcom '99 show, which takes place in Moscow on October 5 to 8, 1999. At the show along with the new computer of Mac family, a lot of other Apple products are presented, including iBook mobile computer, iMac desktops, PowerMac G3, 15", 17" and 21" Apple Studio Displays monitors, MacOS X Server operating system, WebObjects and NetBoot technologies, and a new version of Apple Sherlock 2 search engine.
