Russian company iSleuthHound Technologies presented a new search system, the Sleuth-Hound. The product is destined for fast search for electronic documents and files. Unlike other solutions of that sort, the program does not browse the entire amount of input information looking for the given fragment of text. It scans the search area, set by user, in advance, with words from all documents being stored in special index files. Developers say the advantages of the new program include fast search for information in English and Russian with due account of morphology of corresponding language, simultaneous access to multiple documents with simple navigation throughout the text, as well as familiar Internet interface and rather compact index files. The size of Sleuth-Hound executable module is as little as 494 Kbytes. The product is excellently suited, in particular, for building personal electronic archives. Freeware version of the Sleuth-Hound supports Microsoft Word documents (versions 6.0 to 2000) and plain text documents in DOS and Windows codepages. Large amounts of these documents, as well of documents of the other formats, may be processed by commercial version, the Sleuth-Hound Professional. It supports Microsoft Excel, HTML, and user-defined formats, and may be ordered at the company's website, http://isleuthhoundco-ltd.net. Freeware versions, both English and Russian, are available for download at the same site. Source: InfoArt News Agency
