According to the head of Administration of Russian President, in no case can the computer facilities of Kremlin (the President's official residence) be blocked on the beginning of the new year. The Administration has enough funding and technological abilities to solve what is called "the millennium problem". All efforts on elimination of the millennium bug should be completed in December 1999, said the official. For the unlikely case when some hardware or software will malfunction somewhere in the divisions of the Administration, experts have already planned all actions needed to fix these problems promptly and to minimize their potential negative consequences. It was also highlighted that Kremlin utilizes a number of domestic computer systems which are not liable Y2K problem at all. As to imported products, which might be affected by the problem, the Administration is already purchasing Y2K-compatible upgrades from corresponding vendors.
