Official presentation of Russian version of Microsoft Office 2000 suite has taken place in Moscow. As announced by Microsoft office in Moscow, the event has been attended by more than a thousand specialists in information technologies, including technicians, IT directors and managers, value-added resellers, as well as representatives from Microsoft partner companies and mass media. Even prior to official presentation of the new product Microsoft did a lot of work to familiarize its partners and users with Office 2000 functionality. The product is already being deployed in some Russian organizations, including the Bank of Moscow, computer center of the Customs Committee of Russia, a number of companies in insurance and oil industries. ================= PROMT announces new versions of HUGO linguistic system and Mac translator Russian software company PROMT, a specialist in computer linguistic solutions, has completed the upgrade of its HUGO system. Within the framework of the project HUGO was ported to Win32 platform and new functionality was added. The system provides an extensive set of tools for checking grammar and spelling in English and French texts. On top of the functions which are standard for products of this sort, HUGO can be used as French-English and English-French dictionaries. The project was carried out by order of Softissimo, a French software distributor. PROMT officials also say that HUGO is licensed by Microsoft. The software giant is going to use this technology in its software products of Office 2000 family, distributed in France. On top of that, PROMT has released a CD-ROM with a new version of its translator for Mac platform, PROMT Macintosh 2.0. The product supports English, German, French and Russian languages. Beyond translation to and from Russian, the distribution includes non-Russian language couples for translation from English to French, from German to French and vice versa. ================= MTU Inform offers telemarketing services MTU Inform company, one of the top phone operators in Moscow, announced new telemarketing services, i.e. arranging phone polls of any audience throughout the world. Polls are carried out by operators of MTU Inform Phone Center using the most up-to-date software. The company says the technology of polling is highly automated, thus minimizing the probability of human error. The system makes calls to a multiple potential respondents at a time, using the given database of phone numbers. Once there is a reply, the system reports to a vacant operator inviting him for the interview. The scenario of the interview and the electronic form to be filled during it are shown at the operator's monitor. MTU Inform underscores the fact that telemarketing services dramatically decreases the expense of public polls or marketing research, since 95% of the operator's working time is devoted directly to the interview. On top of that, raw data are submitted to the customer in electronic form, thus decreasing the expense of their processing. While making polls in Russian regions and abroad, additional savings of customer's money are provided by the company's low fares for long distance and international calls. Source: InfoArt News Agency
