CPS company, one of the largest Russian software distributors, and InstallShield corporation announced a program aimed at legalization of InstallShield Professional users in the country. Up to September 30, 1999, owners of pirated copies of this software product can purchase the unique registration number and thus become licensed users for only US$ 200. The retail price of the product, Infoart notes, is US$ 794.

The program is effective only in Russia and CIS countries. Its potential participants are individuals residing at ex-USSR territory, as well as businesses and organizations operating there. Citizens and organizations of the other countries are not eligible.

Similar action was held by InstallShield one month ago in USA, where anyone could purchase a registration number. Yet Russians were somewhat limited for participation in the program, since money transfers from Russia abroad is strictly controlled by local legislation and causes certain difficulties. Thus CPS proposed InstallShield to held a similar program specially for Russia and CIS countries.

InstallShield Professional is a software product which drastically simplifies and improves development of installation wizards for various applications. It runs under Windows 95, 98 and NT.

CPS director-in-general Serge Fenev underscored that software piracy problem is very nasty in Russia, thus the company did its best to expand the InstallShield program from USA to ex-USSR region. He is delighted by the fact that his company managed to convince their American partners to make the product available for Russian users. On top of commercial essence, such programs play a great bringing-up role. In the given case, the company sees its goal in inculating work with legal software into Russians. CPS sincerely hopes that the action will significantly increase the number of legal users in Russia and CIS countries.

Within the framework of this program, any Russian or CIS citizen or organization can purchase a registration number for their copies of InstallShield Professional. To this end, they should make a payment to CPS banking account; the registration number is delivered by e-mail. Since that moment, the participant of the program becomes an absolutely legal user of InstallShield Professional.
