Another Internet-controlled facility put into operation in Novosibirsk

A new computerized control system for three-phase electric power network, based on WWW industrial controllers, is put into testing operation in Novosibirsk city in Russia. The principal feature of this system is that access to all its components is provided via Internet. Each device of the system is equipped with an embedded Web server, with all data being transferred by means of HTTP protocol

The solution is the next step in the strategy of computerized control of industrial processes, put forward by Granch, a local developer of industrial communication and control products. Its first commercial project was the automatic control system for home heating facilities, which provided control and accounting of power and heat consumption in multistorey residential buildings. (The problem is essential for the Siberian region, with outdoors temperature falling below minus 40 degrees Centigrade, or minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit, in winter.)

The new system provides monitoring of all parameters of three-phase electric power network. it is also able to analyze emergency situations, with algorithms for the analysis being flexible and easily reprogrammed by the operator. Minimal reaction time of the system is as low as 10 milliseconds.
