Alcatel plant in St.-Petersburg became a place of a ceremony devoted to a significant success of the company at the Russian market. The 2,000,000-th port of A1000S12 switch system was installed in Russian public communication networks.

In his speech at the celebration Mr. Julien de Vilde, regional president of Alcatel, underscored that reaching this mark is an important step in company's activity in Russia. The company is proud of its being the top vendor of telco equipment at the local market and having installed the greatest amount of digital switch systems.

A1000S12 systems for ISDN switching are installed and successfully operated in 49 cities throughout the country. The total number of these systems has reached 156, with 109 of them being local switches and 47 working as long-distance and combined systems. Alcatel share at Russian switch market, Infoart notes, is 35% at the moment.
