AMS company announced beginning of sales of its RealZV Notebook TV tuner in Russia. The company says the device turns a mobile computer into a full-featured TV. This multi-system tuner was developed by Korean company Pantech Media specially for AMS, aiming at Russian market. It includes a compact TV receiver and PCMCIA card. The latter performs video capture, frame capture, video playback, videoconferencing and other functions. The essential feature of RealZV Notebook TV is that it is the first to support SECAM DK standard, used in Russia. Using this device, Russian mobile PC users will now be able to see color TV broadcasts at their monitors. Along with SECAM DK, the device supports NTSC/PAL standard. On top of viewing TV broadcasts, RealZV Notebook TV may be used for playing video records, provided by video camera, tape recorder or DVD player, at the monitor of the notebook, as well as for making high-quality video records at hard disk. Standard S-Video and RCA inputs allow to link the device with any video camera. The device works at 30 frames per second with resolutions ranging from 640x480 to 1024x768 pixels. Zooming is also supported. The new device is also distinguished by its small size and weight (approx. 300 g).
