Secret Disk software is already available in Moscow

Russian company ALADDIN, a specialist in data protection, developed a new solution to provide security of confidential data. Its Secret Disk technology allows to create and use confidential logical disks in Windows 95/98 environment. All data on these disks are stored in encrypted form. The disk may be physically located at local hard disk, server disk, or removable media like Zip, Jazz, floppy disks, CD-ROM, or magneto-optical disks. Authorization of the user requires the password and the personal hardware identifier: an electronic trinket, HASP key, PCMCIA card or smart card. As long as the secret disk is mounted, the operating system and all other programs can access it as a usual one: run the programs stored on it, create, open, save and delete any files, etc. Once the disk is unmounted, all files and executables stored on it become unavailable. Thus, using Secret Disk is equivalent to implementing encryption functions in all applications. This is especially convenient for mobile users, who are exposed to the greatest risk of having their computers stolen - together with all data in them.

Secret Disk is already available in Moscow computer stores. Retail prices ranges from US$ 125 to 205, depending upon the composition of the package.
