"Au!", one of the oldest and the most popular catalogs in Russian Internet, announced its name to be changed soon. @Rus will be the name under which the catalog will integrate itself in the world Internet and enter the new millennium. The new name is linked with the new role of the catalog: it will serve as the most complete guide on Russian language resources of Internet for both Russian and foreign audience. Changing the name is one of the steps towards transforming the catalog into a full-featured Internet portal. The solution to change the name was done in order to promote its integration into global Internet. The new name was chosen in such a way that it could be easily accepted by a foreign user and associated with Russia, and not merely with Russia but specifically with Russian Internet resources. Announcement of the new name completes the first stage of its reorganization, being done now by is new owner, WebTech Information Systems Ltd. This company was established in order to carry out an investment program, aimed at further development of the catalog and its promotion in both Russian and foreign segments of Internet. @Rus migration towards the foreign audience will include a few essential stages, including translation of the catalog content into English. At the moment, there are about 28,000 websites indexed in the catalog. Search and navigation are done by means of one-of-a-type engine containing about 300 topics. ================= Ericsson establishes Service Points in Russian regions Ericsson announced a kick-off of new project in Russia, named Service Points for mobile GSM communications. At the first stage, Service Points will be established in Krasnodar, Novosibirsk, Samara, St.-Petersburg and Ufa. At the moment, about 30% of mobile subscribers in these cities use Ericsson handsets. The company says the new project will allow any owner of Ericsson GSM handset to get immediate service and support in mobile communications office, regardless of whether the device is covered by the warranty or not. Users needing to repair their handset or to upgrade its software will make just a brief visit to mobile communications office where the Service Point is arranged. A qualified technician will solve the problem in their presence. Service and support will be provided for all Ericsson handsets users. Such Service points are a very urgent solution for Russia. Up not now, users from remote regions of the country had to ship their devices to Moscow if the repairance was needed, with the entire procedure taking as long as a few weeks. Pyotr Ganelin, Ericsson manager for after-sales service and technical support, highlighted that residents of the cities where Service Points are opened will get a world-class service within half an hour. Ericsson, unlike the other vendors, was the first to reach its customers in the regions. Taking into account that, on the average, one of every three Russian cellular users has Ericsson handset, the company has further plans to expand the network of its Service Points to other Russian cities.
