ISTC approves 55 new projects for Russia, totaling US$ 12 mln.

The Board of Directors of the International Scientific and Technical Center (ISTC) has held its 19th meeting in ISTC headquarters in Moscow. The meeting was attended by representatives of all eleven participating countries, including all four co-founders of the Center (European Committee, Russian Federation, United States, and Japan), and Republic of Armenia, which is also a member of the Board of Directors.

The Board approved 55 new projects, totaling US$ 12 mln. They relate to a broad scope of science and technologies. Among those worthing special attention there are studies in health care, medicine and ecology. In particular, they include development of medical diagnostic system, gamma spectrometer, support for National Center for Collection of Viruses, refinement of dialyze solutions, development of spacecraft thermal control systems, radiation monitoring of Yenisei river in Siberia, and using microorganisms for decomposition of cancerogenic substances. The total number of projects which are carried within the framework of conversion of military-oriented science to civil matters has now reached 790, with their total funding exceeding US$ 215 mln.
