Rostelecom, the major Russian telco operator, reported minimizing of its investments in 1999 for the second year in a row to US$ 82 mln. This means a 72% decrease as compared to 1998 investments, which were US$ 298 mln; 1997 investments were as high as US$ 374 mln. Despite this decrease, Rostelecom will continue performing a number of projects which are already launched. In particular, construction of transcontinental fiber communications line from Moscow to Khabarovsk (more than 5300 miles long) will go on. Source: InfoArt News Agency
