MTU-Intel company, one of the most dynamic Internet service providers in Russia, announced the project of building a system for wireless Internet access, which will cover the entire Moscow city and Moscow region. Using this network will allow MTU-Intel to provide Internet services even in rural areas which do not have conventional phone landlines, with the quality of these services being as high as in Moscow itself. To create the network, the company has obtained the license for operation in 2.4 GHz band throughout the Moscow region. (Unlike the other countries, this band is licensed in Russia.) MTU-Intel has already signed contracts with Airlink and Lucent Technologies for wireless equipment. Currently MTU-Intel serves more than 200,000 users in Moscow. The network is based on the SDH fiber optic transport network, belonging to its parent company, MTU-Inform. Source: InfoArt News Agency
