MTU-Inform company, one of the largest telco operators in Moscow city, announced that it has recently begun trial operation of its new Internet backbone channel. The channel is based at SHD technology and provides 155 Mbps throughput. This is the first Internet backbone channel of such capacity in Russia. The channel utilizes the MTU's own SDH fiber optic transport network. Along with the great throughput of the channel, the new technology will provide optimal use of the resources of the network. Upgrading the channel from 8 to 155 Mbps will allow MTU-Inform and its daughter company MTU-Intel to offer their users a better communication with the Russian segment of Internet and to make significant preferences to the customers with a great amount of domestic traffic. The MTU-Inform's fiber optic network is currently the biggest one in Moscow. It forms the base of the MTU-Online Internet access system, as well as a handful of other telecommunication networks and services: public services telephony network, intellectual telephony services, and data communications.
