Ericsson makes an agreement with Kuban GSM in Russia

Ericsson and Kuban GSM announced signing an agreement on expansion of GSM network in Krasnodar city and Krasnodar region at the south of Russia. Within the framework of the agreement, the Swedish company will ship its partner 29 base stations of the RBS 2000 family and increase the capacity of the switch.

Ericsson will also provide the latest R 7.0 version of its software. This will allow the Krasnodar operator to increase the number and quality of its services and to establish the base for development of high-speed data communication system. On top of that, Kuban GSM will deploy the up-to-date Ericsson Prepaid Light system for pre-payment of mobile communications services. It will also deploy DXX digital transport system, which drastically increases performance and reliability of the communication system.

Kuban GSM is a local GSM operator and an affiliate of the Kubanelectrosvyaz company. It is one of the biggest GSM operators in Russia, offering cellular communications services throughout the Krasnodar region and a part of Republic of Adygeya. Currently the number of its customers has reached 15,000. In particular, Kuban GSM network provides virtually a complete coverage of the Black Sea coast (the most popular resort area in Russia) and is able to accept a great number of roaming users from other GSM networks.
