DOCFLOW 99, the 5th annual tradeshow on electronic document management, archives and paper-less technologies, was held in Russian Academy of Governmental Service on May 25, 1999. As reported by the organizing committee, 33 vendors took part in the event. Among them there were leading developers, value-added resellers and hardware vendors for informational systems. The conference was attended by representatives of more than 970 businesses and organizations, thus marking 22 per cent growth of its popularity (as compared to 750 in 1998). Visitors of the show attended the reports done by the companies' representatives, took part in a round table discussion, and familiarized themselves with operation of actual solutions and systems at the exhibitor's booths. This year, the round table discussion was devoted to large-scale information projects: Year 2000 Population Census, filling tax declarations, building the united register of customers of insurance programs, and others. The problems concerned in the discussion included principles of decision-making, perspectives of building information systems in federal and regional governmental organizations, funding the projects (by credits, from budget, and other sources), and others. Among the participants of the discussion there were representatives of Russian Ministry of Taxes and Duties, Russian Pensionary Fund, State Committee of Statistics, State Tax Inspection and a number of computer companies. The first annual DOCFLOW tradeshow was held on November 27, 1995. It was arranged by ABBYY (BIT Software) company and PC Magazine/RE, with the aid of ExpoService-F company.
