A seminar entitled "Electronic commerce in Russia: technology, methods, and practice" is taking place in Moscow on May 27 and 28, 1999. It is held by two Russian companies, TopS Systems Integrator and Interface.

The organizers of the seminar say it is aimed mostly at heads and marketing managers of trade companies, distributors, heads of provision and marketing departments of businesses (both goods manufacturers and services providers). It will be helpful for everyone considering the possibility to establish a new marketing channel via Internet, wishing to familiarize oneself with abilities of e-commerce and see the various technologies of Internet commerce in action.

On top of that, the organizers believe the comparative analysis of ways and technologies of e-commerce and various software platforms for its application to be useful for potential investors who are currently considering possible projects in this field. By now, Infoart notes, most of these projects are investment projects.

The goals of the seminar are to highlight the essence of e-commerce and Internet commerce; to show its role in the modern world; to familiarize the audience with specific ways of arranging Internet commerce; to analyze the benefits and potential hazards of Internet commerce.

A press conference will be held within the framework of the seminar on May 28. It will summarize the results of the seminar, announce the results of TopS activity in e-commerce, and consider a number of topics, including:

• how to make e-commerce profitable in Russia;
• new TopS programs and proposals in the field of e-commerce;
• presentation of new Internet shops based on INTERSHOPT 3 technology.
