As announced by Moscow office of Intel corporation, Russian schoolchildren have participated in Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) even more successfully than in the previous year. This prestigious and wide-scale youth contest took place on May 2 to 8, 1999, in Phyladelphia, Penn. One of the main prizes of the fair, the Intel Fellows Achievement Award, was awarded to 14-years-old Sergey Tischenko from Moscow, who appears to be one of the youngest participants. On top of that, Sergey Tischenko was the second in Intel ISEF'99 mathematics contest and won the third prize of the Taiwan National Education and Scientific Center. All these awards were taken by his study entitled: "The maximum size of 3-regular flat graph of diameter 3". Three other Russian schoolchildren have also been among the Intel ISEF'99 finalists. Elisey Yagodkin from the 11th class of Moscow Liceum No.1303 was the third in Chemistry section and won the second prize of American Chemical Society. Nikita Nalyutin and Artem Konev, also of the same age and from Moscow (Liceum No. 1533) were awarded with a diploma of the American Association of Computer Technologies for their joint study, "Application development environment in assembler language of ARTM7TDMI processor for X86-based computers". Thus, this year four Russian schoolchildren took twice the number of awards won by them at Intel ISEF'98. It is also worth mentioning that the small, yet unanimous, Russian team was the second in unofficial team competition. A greater number of awards was gathered only by a far more numerous USA team. International Science and Engineering Fairs are held annually since 1950 and follow exactly the same rules as the adult scientific conferences. The prestige of ISEF awards is so high that they are sometimes named "Nobel Prizes for Schoolchildren". By now, the total prize fund of Intel ISEF, including monetary prizes, scholarships, grants, and scientific hardware, has achieved US$ 2 mln. It is also a symbolic sign that Nobel Prize winners took part in ISEF awarding ceremony. The absolute winners of the contest are not only awarded with a considerable funding of their study in the best universities worldwide, but are also invited to attend the annual Nobel Prize awarding ceremony in Stockholm, Sweden.
