Russian software vendors Arsenal and DISKo presented a new tool for monitoring the changes on Web pages. The product is aimed at making the data mining in Internet more productive. While applying it, the user has no need to download his favorite pages just to see that there have been no changes since his last visit. Neither he will miss an important information which may be replaced by the later news by the time of next visit.

According to the developers, DISKo Observer creates new possibilities for extracting the most up-to-date information from Internet. It regularly checks the content of given webpages. The changes are indicated in the operating window of the program, and time of the changes is recorded. Applying the product is extremely simple: the user has just to input the address of the desired site, the period of checking it (ranging from one minute to one month) and the type of changes. E.g., it is possible to indicate only the news related to a specific topic. DISKo Observer can monitor multiple sites simultaneously.

Once the sites to be monitored are listed and the parameters of monitoring are set, the program puts its icon in the right-hand side of the taskbar and starts its operation in background mode. As soon as some changes are determined at the given sites, the blinking red light appears on the icon. Clicking the icon opens the program window with the found news with hypertext links to the webpages. If necessary, the user can easily open the original page and see the entire text; yet the first paragraph (or the beginning of it), which is displayed in DISKo Observer window, is typically sufficient to get the principal idea of the news without downloading the entire page.

The program is developed by DISKo and will be distributed by Arsenal through preinstallation on new computers, in retail and via Internet.
