The Ministry of Defense of Russian Federation announced that it suspends all relations with NATO and its members because of continuing NATO aggression against Yugoslavia. Along with the other programs, cooperation with US Department of Defense on solving the Y2K problem is canceled.

================== IT sets out to promote Orckit Communications products at Russian market

IT company, a Russian value-added reseller, announced a new agreement with Orckit Communications Ltd. from Israel, a leading manufacturer of digital modems. The agreement was signed late March. According to it, IT becomes an official distributor of Orckit Communications and will now directly promote the entire set of Orckit products at Russian market.

Currently Orckit is recognized as the developer of a vast family of reliable, state-of-the-art devices for xDSL solutions. They are aimed at "last mile" segment of the communication infrastructure and provide wideband communications by means of existing copper cabling, as well as compression of traffic and integration of multimedia traffic for internetwork exchange. Thus Orckit products may be widely applied for building distributed territorial networks.

IT manager for telecommunications Vladimir Romanov highlighted that the two principal families of Orckit products, CopperTrunk and FastInternet, are excellently positioned for Russian market. They implement the widely recognized HDSL standard as well as high-speed ADSL and VDSL standards.
