Microsoft office in Moscow announced that a three its software products, aimed at corporate market, successfully passed their certification for protection against unauthorized access to information. These are Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, Windows NT Workstation 4.0 and SQL Server 6.5. Certification was done by the State Technical Committee under the President of Russian Federation.

Certification was performed under the project on building automatic systems for accounting and control of nuclear materials. It was supported by international scientific and technical cooperation between nuclear facilities of Russian Ministry of Nuclear Energy and US Department of Energy. Inter-governmental agreements on control of non-propagation of nuclear materials formed the legal base for the procedure.

Ministry of Nuclear Energy officials say that Microsoft products, certified by State Technical Committee for protection against unauthorized access, are now recommended for application at all facilities dealing with nuclear materials.

Shipment of the certified Microsoft products under the project is carried out by ANKEY/Holding company. It also provides deployment and technical support of the products.
