Russian computer vendors to take part in mini-football tournament
The second annual mini-football tournament among the teams of computer
companies, COMPUTERBALL '99, began in Moscow on March 15, 1999. The event
is held by ComputerAge company and will last until June 30, 1999. This year
the number of participants is twice greater than in 1998 tournament, which
took place in Moscow last July and August and turned out to be far more
popular than expected. IT, Dealine, Rosko, Compaq, CompuLink,
Hewlett-Packard, Xerox, Techmarket, Elst, Samsung and a number of other
companies are among 32 participants of the present competition.
The tournament will be arranged in two stages. The qualification stage will
take place indoors and will last for 10 weeks. The top 16 teams will go
forward to the final stage in June, which will be arranged in olympic
system. The games will be judged by professional referees from CSKA
football club. The winners, silver and bronze medalists and the best
players will be awarded with prizes from ComputerAge, CSKA and sponsors of
the event.
