Oracle reorganizes its business in Russia
Oracle announced some changes in its business activity in Russia. The
reorganization is due to the new economic situation in the country which
has dramatically changed during the past six months. According to Oracle
officials, adjustments of its goals and its business strategy are aimed at
putting them into correspondence with new conditions of operations at the
local market. During this reorganization, some Oracle employees were moved
to new positions within the company according to its new tasks and goals.
The company's staff in Moscow and St.-Petersburg was decreased
approximately by 25%.
Three principal changes in Oracle operations in Russia are:
- In some areas of its activity in Russia, the company puts the emphasis
from direct sales to cooperation with its business partners. At the same
time, it focuses its efforts in the two key vertical markets: Public
Services (including governmental institutions, transport, financial
structures, etc.) and Power Industry (oil & gas, power systems, etc.).
These industries remain the principal fields of Oracle business in Russia.
- Currently Oracle is carrying out a worldwide initiative Oracle Partner
Program (OPP) as a part of a broader effort for improving cooperation with
its business partners. Under this program, Oracle Russia is allocating
additional resources to support its partners, both in logistics and in
indirect sales via its partners.
- Currently Russian businesses and organizations make less investments
in new projects and pay more attention to upgrading their present
solutions, improving the effectiveness of operation and control of these
systems. This issue is especially important due to Y2K problem. Thus Oracle
Russia increases the number of its specialists in technical support and
customer service.
